The Garden Project

The Garden Project image THE GARDEN PROJECT

The simple definition of a Garden is a plot of ground where plants are cultivated. A planned space, usually outdoors, set aside for the display, cultivation, and enjoyment of plants and other forms of nature.

Sometimes it may not be what you would want it to be! Some people have been quoted on their thoughts…

Many things grow in the gardens that were never sown there. ~Thomas Fuller, Gnomologia, 1732

A weed is any plant which is out of place. Anon

But it has been said that Gardens are a form of autobiography – and through the Garden Project we hope to offer an opportunity for participation on many levels to the membership and friends of Canberra Rep and Theatre 3.

We need your help. Yes the garden is in a sad state, following the over fertilisation of the beds by our old drains, which are currently being assessed prior to repair, and a few years of not really looking as Someone Else looks after them! Well Someone Else no longer has much to do with our garden, and now is the time to put your thinking caps on and be part of this dynamic project.

Think about what it could be

The Rep Garden could be a reflection of each year’s shows...
It could have vegetables...
Or use small landscape themes, with styles from 1932 to now...
A living Autobiography of and by and for the members and volunteers which make Rep.

Do it!

To work in with our glorious Canberra Seasons, and to have everything up and running in time for the launch this November for the 2011 Rep Season of Plays, final plans will need to be in place by mid August.

Don't delay! Send us your thoughts, plans and ideas.
