Julie Barnes | Stage Manager
Julie completed REP’s Stage Management Workshop run by Mandy Brown in 2023, and after a stagehand stint for Baby Jane is thrilled to stage manage for Lizzy Darcy & Jane under Mandy’s sage mentorship. A background in MCing plus stage and venue management for music festivals and conferences, paired with her enjoyment of singing, performing with friends’ bluegrass and Americana bands, amateur musicals and teaching Cajun dancing has led to her happy involvement with the Canberra REP team. Claim to (unashamedly vicarious) fame: roadie for Australia’s vaudeville treasure Mic Conway on a wildly successful tour of South Coast kindergartens and primary schools. Fun times!
Belynda Buck | Production Manager, Properties, Choreographer
After a long career choreographing for theatre and opera, her kids and COVID have redirected Belynda’s involvement to an admin role. Mainly mainstage musicals and productions with Opera Australia, Opera Queensland (all those classics with huge children's choruses), revival choreographer for Baz Luhrmann’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, children’s director with a Cameron Mackintosh tour, along with beautiful productions by Canberra companies Stopera and the brilliant Handel in the Theatre. There were a few years dedicated to producing outdoor theatre and children’s Shakespeare in beautiful Brisbane gardens and playgrounds, that have now eased into assisting with movement in plays, for choirs, and chamber productions. Belynda's only other REP production was Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead with Cate Clelland - but she does long for a revival of the old REP Music Hall days.
Russell Brown OAM | Set Coordinator
Russell has been a member of REP for over 50 years, and in that time he has been involved in almost every aspect from President to performing, set design to set building, props making, furniture making, and tricky effects. With his dedicated team of builders and painters, he whiles away his time making magic for our audiences. He was recently named REP Living Treasure for his many contributions to the Society.
